She graduated from St. Petersburg High School's International Baccalaureate program before attending the University of Florida to study English with a minor in photography. Currently, Jesha is enrolled at Harvard University, studying social justice and history. Jesha loves living in Tampa, and feels a strong connection to its history. After immigrating from Cuba, her great-grandmother worked at one of Ybor city's famous cigar factories, while her great-grandfather owned Velarde & Son grocery store near Cuscaden Park.
Jesha has worked as a paralegal for over 15 years in various areas of law including personal injury, real estate foreclosures, disability, white collar criminal defense, qui tam, and complex civil litigation before joining Prescott Legal as paralegal to founding partner, Teresa Prescott.
Jesha has been recognized by the Business Observer as one of their Top 10 Paralegals for 2014 and 2015. Jesha received the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit's Outstanding Pro Bono Service by a Paralegal award for 2021. She is also a member of NALA, the National Association of Legal Assistants.
Jesha prepares pleadings, performs legal research, drafts letters, communicates with the courts and our clients, but is also responsible for all of the unexpected tasks and emergency matters that arise in a complex area such as family law. While family law is extremely challenging, as there is an added emotionality behind its proceedings, Jesha appreciates rising to the occasion and learning something new every day while finding solutions to the unique situations that arise. Jesha is a passionate advocate who seeks to provide support through her work as well as through compassion for the psychological struggles of litigation within families.
